The Transatlantic Financial Crisis of 1837 -- OUP Encyclopedia of Latin American History
The Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Latin American History has published my entry, entitled, "The Transatlantic Financial Crisis of 1837." Here is a PDF version. While technically an encyclopedia entry, the experience for me in putting all of this together was much more comparable to a full-length article published in a peer reviewed journal. In other words, a lot of work. Its length, including notes, exceeded 10,000 words. It was an invitation-only process and the article went through a process of anonymous peer review with several editors and scholars involved. If you're interested in nineteenth-century financial panics and recessions, give this a read. In addition to some amazing content, you'll find important links to primary sources, a brief discussion of the historiographical literature on this topic, links to digital materials, images, and a further reading section.
